In Australia, fewer people are giving more to charities every year. Fundamentally, when you care about a cause, you want to help out however you can. You may want to help raise money for the McGrath Foundation but you’re not sure where to start, or perhaps we’ve never asked you.
Morgan Nowicki, McGrath Foundation Community Fundraising Manager said, ‘I speak to so many people every day who want to help the McGrath Foundation however they can, but they don’t know how to get started.’
Below are 5 easy ways to get involved with fundraising for the McGrath Foundation.
1. Make it yummy
A great place to start is a good old-fashioned bake sale. Pull your favourite recipes off Pinterest, hit your local grocery store and cook up a storm. You can sell your wares at sports games, carnivals, anywhere where there might be groups of hungry people. Add a touch of pink to really reinforce your support. Many of our fundraisers also like to host high teas, dressing up and indulging in some sweet treats, all for a good cause.
2. Take on a challenge
Dust off those sneakers and get into training. You can support the McGrath Foundation through any number of physical challenge ‘ whether you join an existing race like City2Surf in Sydney, or the Miss Muddy series across Australia, or you create your own challenge, getting your body moving is a great way to inspire others to donate to a cause you care about.
3. Keep doing what you’re doing!
Do you have an interesting hobby? Or sell an interesting product? That can easily be turned into a way to fundraise for the McGrath Foundation. In the past, some of our community fundraisers have:
Sold prize rams at a local agricultural show
Trekked across Antarctica
Turned their entire town pink
Driven a pink tractor through New South Wales
If there’s something you love to do, and a cause you’d love to do it for, it’s a winning combination.
4. Join a campaign
This is the easiest way to support the McGrath Foundation! Every year we run a number of campaigns that you can join. Over the summer, host a Pink Stumps Day cricket game with your friends and family, or in the winter, purchase a pair of our limited edition McGrath Foundation socks and get your team registered for a Pull On Your Socks event! When you join a campaign, you’ll be provided with an easy-to-use toolkit that will help you every step of the way.
5. Get social
In this day and age, the very best way to share your fundraising efforts is to get talking. Post on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin ‘ spread the message as far and wide as you can. And don’t forget to tag us @McGrathFoundation ‘ we’ll be more than happy to show our support.
Morgan says, ‘The best way to show your community about a cause you love, is to do something that you enjoy doing. Enthusiasm is so infectious, and when people realise how much you care, they’ll be encouraged to support you.’
When it comes to fundraising for the McGrath Foundation, the sky really is the limit. No matter how big or small, we’re so grateful for your support.
