The Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) came alive with a burst of pink as the NRMA Insurance Pink Test 2024 officially commenced with a vibrant Pink Parade through the SCG precinct.
The parade of more than 200 supporters was a celebration of unity in pink and marked the beginning of the iconic Pink Test where Australia is up against Pakistan.
Joining the parade was 72-year-old Prabodh Malhotra whose awe-inspiring 1,300km walk from the MCG culminated at the SCG this morning having raised over an incredible $85,000 for the McGrath Foundation.
Accompanying Prabodh were participants of the annual Big Three Trek who completed a 60km walk from the Central Coast to the SCG, also in support of the McGrath Foundation. Representatives from the Pink Sari Group and AUSPAK Women’s Association, local cricket clubs, dancers, McGrath Breast Care Nurses and their patients joined the festivities creating a vibrant spectacle that brought to life this year’s Pink Test theme – ‘unite in pink’.
The Pink Parade exemplified the spirit of unity as supporters walked, marched, and danced alongside Prabodh and the Big Three Trek for the final leg of their journey, in a show of unity for those affected by breast cancer. The morning’s festivities set the stage for a special Pink Test, emphasising the importance of community spirit for those with breast cancer.

The Pink Parade captures what it means to unite in pink, and we are so grateful for the overwhelming support from Prabodh, the Big Three Trek, and everyone involved,” said Glenn McGrath, Co-Founder and President of the McGrath Foundation.
“We know the powerful difference coming together can make, which is why this Pink Test we’re asking all of Australia to unite in pink for those with breast cancer by buying a Virtual Pink Seat.”
Fundraiser Prabodh Malhotra said, “It’s such a thrill to be part of the Pink Parade to celebrate the start of the Pink Test. I undertook my walk because I wanted to give something back. To unite here today with so many others doing the same is very special. The Pink Test has grown to be about more than cricket, it’s about bringing families and communities together and the Virtual Pink Seats and Pink Parade have become a meaningful way to show support and honour those around us who are experiencing breast cancer.”
During the Pink Test, the McGrath Foundation is calling on Australians to unite in pink by buying a Virtual Pink Seat. All funds raised during the Pink Test will help us to reach 250 McGrath Breast Care Nurses this year, providing essential support to families navigating the challenges of breast cancer.
Virtual Pink Seats provide a unique opportunity for supporters to honour those experiencing breast cancer while contributing to the McGrath Foundation’s mission to ensure no one goes through breast cancer without the care of a breast care nurse.
