Congratulations to our fundraising hero, Hugh Bateman for releasing his first ever children’s book.
Hugh, from Mudgee NSW, has raised more than $500,000 for the McGrath Foundation since 2015.
As a real estate agent by trade, Hugh is passionate about rallying his community to support McGrath Breast Care Nurses and families experiencing breast cancer.
Now, he’s expanded his expertise by writing and publishing The Little Pink Tractor, a gorgeously illustrated children’s book.
The book tells the story of a tractor, who decides to set off on a 3000km trek to spread the McGrath Foundation’s message, and raise money for McGrath Breast Care Nurses. Along the way he makes lots of friends who also decide to turn pink, and support his cause.
The story reflects Hugh’s own journey ‘ in 2015, Hugh went to an auction, bought a tractor and painted it pink. That was the beginning of his journey, driving the tractor throughout NSW, meeting amazing people and raising funds for the McGrath Foundation.
Hugh has since started Pink Up Mudgee, where nearly 300 businesses turned pink to support the McGrath Foundation in 2016. By 2017, towns all across NSW were also pinking up throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Net proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to the McGrath Foundation.
