What is a McGrath Cancer Care Nurse?
McGrath Cancer Care Nurses are Registered Nurses who are experts in cancer nursing care. They have relevant postgraduate qualifications, or are working towards postgraduate qualifications specific to caring for people with a cancer diagnosis.
McGrath Cancer Care Nurses provide leading clinical, psychosocial, and emotional support to individuals with any type of cancer throughout treatment.
To become a McGrath Cancer Care Nurse you need to…
Be a Registered Nurse
Have a minimum of five years' post registration experience in providing care to people with cancer, for example surgical oncology or medical oncology.
Have relevant postgraduate qualifications, or are working towards postgraduate qualifications in cancer care nursing.
McGrath Cancer Care Nurses are provided with ongoing support through education and professional development opportunities. They are also offered clinical mentorship and participation in Communities of Practice.

Applications are now open for the position of McGrath Cancer Care Nurse, supporting patients with neuroendocrine tumours. Cancer Network WA is advertising a fulltime (1.0 FTE) Senior Registered Nurse Level 4.
McGrath Cancer Care Nurse - Gympie, QLD
Applications are open for a new McGrath Cancer Care Nurse position, supporting multiple tumour streams. This 1.0 FTE, NG7 position will be based in Gympie, Queensland.
The McGrath Foundation Scholarship Program
The McGrath Foundation is focused on the sustainability and growth of cancer care nursing, and a commitment to workforce planning and development is crucial to ensure we are able to meet the national demand for cancer nurses.
The McGrath Foundation Scholarships – Cancer Nursing – are for Registered Nurses currently providing care to people with cancer who would like to expand their skills and knowledge. Every year, we run the McGrath Foundation Scholarship Program for nurses to complete postgraduate study in cancer nursing.
