Jimboomba, just south of Brisbane, is a town that takes its cricket seriously. Every Saturday, you can find the local club packed with players and spectators alike. This past weekend, the Jimboomba’s Bushrangers Cricket Club turned it up a notch with hundreds of people dressed in pink flocking to the Jimboomba Bushrangers Cricket Club for their annual Pink Stumps Day event.

Jimboomba have been supporting the McGrath Foundation through Pink Stumps Day for six years now, with each event being even bigger and better than the last. This year, McGrath Foundation Co-Founder and President Glenn McGrath made an extra special visit to the club to join their Pink Stumps Day festivities.

From food trucks to a live cricket bat carving, Jimboomba had it all. The evening started with photo opportunities and autographs with Glenn, followed by speeches, an auction, and an exciting celebrity cricket match. The match included Glenn bowling the first over to the team, made up of local Jimboomba players and ex-Australian team members including Michael Kasprowicz and Jimmy Maher.

Also present was local Ipswich McGrath Breast Care Nurse Karen Miles and her patient Emma Robinson. Karen gave a touching speech thanking the Jimboomba community and praising the strength of Emma, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020. It was fantastic to see the support that the community had for Karen and Emma, which brought home what the fundraising was all about.

We can’t thank Jimboomba Bushrangers Cricket Club enough for all their incredible support. It is through the generous effort of clubs like Jimboomba across the country that we can continue funding McGrath Breast Care Nurses. We can’t wait to see what they do next year!
