We raise money to fund McGrath Cancer Care Nurses right across Australia and deliver world leading cancer nursing services to support people and their families through cancer.

Our purpose is to ensure that no one goes through cancer without the care of a McGrath Cancer Care Nurse.

McGrath Cancer Care Nurses provide clinical, psychosocial and emotional support to people with any type of cancer throughout their treatment. 

Yes, in time they will, however over the next 12 months we will focus on placing nurses to support solid tumour cancers in adults. We will include haematological cancer in the second half of 2025.

There are 261 McGrath Cancer Care Nurses across Australia. We know this is not enough. But it’s a step in the right direction and our nurse numbers are growing year on year.

We are currently working through an in-depth needs assessment for cancer nurses across Australia to get a detailed picture of the need across the country.  This will help us identify where the support is needed most.

No. You don't need a referral to see a McGrath Cancer Care Nurse. Most people are connected to a nurse by their medical professional, but you should ask if there is a McGrath Cancer Care Nurse in your area. Or, click here to find your local nurse.

When you donate to the McGrath Foundation, you help deliver world-leading cancer care services through McGrath Cancer Care Nurses who support people and their families going through cancer. 

We know the proven impact the care of a McGrath Cancer Care Nurse has on people experiencing cancer and their families.  

Each year it costs around $150,000 to deliver the nursing support of each of our nurses. All our nurses are clinical experts who operate under the McGrath Model of Care, providing best-practice supportive care nursing. Your support also gives these nurses access to continued professional development, peer support and Clinical and Program leadership to ensure the best care and support possible to anyone who needs it.  

Yes, monthly donations are a powerful way to increase your impact. Donations can be set up via the donation page on our website, or by contacting our Supporter Care Team on 02 8962 6100, extension 2, or by emailing supporter@mcgrathfoundation.com.au.

Yes. Donations of $2 or more may be tax deductible for Australian residents. If you make a one-off donation via our website, a receipt will be emailed to you immediately. If you sign up to become a monthly supporter, your receipt will be sent to you at the end of the financial year. The minimum donation we accept on our website is $10.

We accept Visa, Mastercard, and one-off donations through PayPal.

Direct Deposit:  To make a direct bank deposit to the McGrath Foundation, please download the donation form to find our bank account details. 

Cheques/money orders:  Please make your cheque or money order payable to the “McGrath Foundation” and ensure your donation is accompanied with your name, address and the reason for your donation. Please post it to McGrath Foundation at: PO Box Q129, Queen Victoria Building, Sydney NSW 1230.

We know that the earlier a McGrath Cancer Care Nurse is connected to someone diagnosed with cancer, the better the outcomes can be. McGrath Cancer Nurses provide expert care and support across any stage of cancer and throughout treatment.

McGrath Cancer Care Nurses can improve the quality of care someone receives because they work within a multidisciplinary team of medical and other health professionals, and act as a source of information and contact throughout treatment.

Care from a McGrath Cancer Care Nurse can greatly minimise the stress and trauma of a cancer diagnosis for people experiencing cancer and their families.

McGrath Cancer Care Nurses are highly qualified, clinical experts who add significant value to the coordination of care, support, guidance and advice to people experiencing cancer and their families. Our nurses have a background in oncology, palliative care and cancer stream specific nursing.

To become a McGrath Cancer Care Nurse, you need to be a Registered Nurse with relevant postgraduate qualifications in cancer nursing, five years full-time equivalent post-registration experience and at least three years recent full-time equivalent experience in oncology, palliative care or cancer specific nursing. Our face-to-face fundraising is done through residential fundraisers. This form of fundraising only involves signing people up to give a regular amount each month via credit or debit card. 

Cash donations are not permitted from face-to-face fundraisers. Cash donations can only be collected by people who are volunteers and have been granted permission by the Foundation to do so, at events organised within the community, school, workplace or sports team.

A Will is a legal document that outlines who will receive your property and possessions when you die. A valid Will is important if you have family or other people that financially depend on you.

To be valid, a Will must:

• Be in writing (whether written, typed or printed).

• Be signed; and

• Your signature must be witnessed by two other people who also need to sign the Will.

Yes. You can change your Will at any time.  For small changes, you can make a codicil. For any major changes, you may want to consider making a new Will. We will encourage you to seek legal advice whenever your circumstances change.

No. You don’t need to tell us of your intention to leave a gift in your Will. However, we would love to thank you for your generosity and support throughout your lifetime. We would also like to share our latest news and show you the impact that gifts like yours can make. As one of our Gifts in Wills supporter, you will receive invitations to attend special events hosted by the McGrath Foundation.

Yes. Even if you share your intentions with us, you can request your gift remain anonymous.

The People and Culture team will keep you informed via email and will schedule phone calls as necessary to provide updates and discuss the progress of your application.

You will be asked to complete a police check once you have been notified that you are the successful candidate. At that stage, we will provide you with the necessary information to proceed with the police check.

It is not necessary to provide the contact details of your referees on your CV. Once we reach the reference check stage, we will contact you to discuss the most appropriate referees and request their details.

We prefer that you submit your CV or Cover Letter in either Word or PDF format.
