Vanessa's story

"My McGrath Cancer Care Nurse Lindi was a breath of fresh air when I was diagnosed with breast cancer.

I’d been diagnosed with anal cancer 18-months earlier and a social worker spoke to me, but she had no idea about my cancer and I ended up having to explain it to her. She said she’d be in touch… and I never heard from her again.

When Lindi reached out to me, I was very blunt. I said ‘Don’t tell me you’ll ring me and then not. I’ve been through this before’. And she said, ‘What do you mean you didn’t get support?’ This is what we do. I cried when I realised I was actually going to get support and have someone to talk to about this.”
