When NRMA Insurance came on board as the men’s Test Series naming rights partner in late 2022 they were quick to seek out ways to extend their support to the Pink Test and families experiencing breast cancer. As a result, today they fund the position of Kate Williams, a McGrath Breast Care Nurse supporting the Naracoorte community in South Australia.
Recently the NRMA Insurance Team took some time to spend a day with Kate and two of her very special patients, Rhonda and Janette on the Limestone Coast to better understand what a day in the life of a McGrath Breast Care Nurse really looks like.
Kate has been a McGrath Breast Care Nurse since 2022 and a registered nurse since 1989. She provides expert care to families navigating a breast cancer diagnosis in the communities in regional South Australia.
Kate shares that the most important thing she does for the families she supports is to “provide continuous emotional and psychological support to minimise the stress and trauma of their breast cancer experience. I listen to their concerns and help them navigate through their treatment pathway.
Every day I relieve the anxieties and fears of my patients in the whirlwind of their diagnosis and aim to always be a friendly, caring support for my patients, their family and friends.”
