Partner Spotlight: Community First Credit Union

The relationship between the McGrath Foundation and Community First Credit Union is a special and enduring one. First joining forces over ten years ago, Community First recognised a passion and drive in the McGrath Foundation that was similar to their own. Since then, the partnership has blossomed into a strong commitment to help families experiencing breast cancer throughout Australia.

Community First believe in the importance of making a positive impact on their customer’s lives. Offering a series of products, from savings accounts to home insurance, they aim to make a difference in the communities they live and work in through product innovation. It was this desire to make a real impact on the lives of Australians that first drew them to the McGrath Foundation over a decade ago.

“The McGrath Foundation are a trusted brand with an inspiring story behind them. We connected with the passionate people driving it as we saw we shared similar values and opportunities to do things differently,” said Aletia from Community First.

A partnership felt like a natural opportunity to come together and make a real difference. One of Community First’s most powerful initiatives was to launch the the Pink Credit Card, which donates half the annual fee ($20) every year to the McGrath Foundation. Community First members have since contributed over $1 million to the McGrath Foundation, just through simply holding their credit card. This was an incredible way to raise important ongoing funds.

“Normal commercial sponsorships usually provide short term financial relationships which are useful but don’t provide long-term benefit and we wanted to pitch something different… There’s no doubt that the pink cards and our partnership with the McGrath Foundation have enabled us to stretch our wings and do some of our most fun and creative marketing to date” says Aletia.

In addition to their innovative Pink Credit Card, Community First have done even more awareness building and fundraising initiatives, from pinking up their stores to handing out branded coffee cups. They have been a true ally in the quest to fund McGrath Breast Care Nurses and help families across Australia experiencing breast cancer. We cannot thank them enough for their support and look forward to many more years of amazing work together.
