Partner Spotlight: IGA Australia

For over a decade, the McGrath Foundation and IGA have worked together to ensure that no one experiencing breast cancer goes without the care of a McGrath Breast Care Nurse. Since first teaming up eleven years ago, the McGrath Foundation x IGA partnership has jumped from strength to strength.

As a network of over 1,300 independent family owned businesses, IGA are in an incredible position to invest in, and support, their local communities. It’s these local communities that shape who they are and what they put on their shelves. In fact, no two IGA stores in Australia are the same, each reflects the needs of the individual town it serves.

IGA go above and beyond on their commitment to supporting Aussie communities by championing local charities that make a difference. In the case of the McGrath Foundation, the decision to partner felt natural and important, due to the hands-on work of McGrath Breast Care Nurses in the very same communities that IGA retailers support. With 171 McGrath Breast Care Nurses now operating in Australia, the McGrath Foundation has a tangible impact on many of these local communities.

“We chose to partner with the McGrath Foundation to support the grassroots work they do – in local communities across Australia, because these are the very same communities that are IGA retailers across the country, communities that we live in, love, and support however we can,” says Heather from IGA.

Since becoming a corporate partner, IGA have demonstrated their committment to helping those experiencing breast cancer, from raising awareness of the McGrath Foundation to holding important fundraisers. If you visit an IGA store during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, you will be sure to see many stores dressed up in pink with exclusive promotions to help raise money for the McGrath Foundation via their Community Chest program. This initiative allows customers to support the McGrath Foundation just by shopping at IGA and buying any product with a Community Chest ticket, with all funds raised going towards funding McGrath Breast Care Nurses across the country.

Through all their fundraising efforts over the years, the IGA have raised over $2million for the McGrath Foundation. We are so grateful for their support as it allows us to help even more families experiencing breast cancer. To IGA, we offer a huge thank you and can’t wait to see where the next few years takes us.

Supporting McGrath Breast Care Nurses is as simple as picking up the groceries at IGA between 29th September 2021 – 26th October 2021.
